Drum corps and marching band is one of the growing passions in Asia over the last few years; most recently thanks in part to the overseas outreach of Drum Corps International groups and individual instructors.

Eric Smith, a former United Percussion member and instructor has been a part of this growth. Eric has been teaching core techniques in marching and rudimental percussion to Chinese and Taiwanese elementary, middle, and high schools students and their teachers as a part of the DCI China Fellowship, a partnership with Shanghai-based music education firm Motif Music.

In 2015, United was fortunate to have a Taiwanese member in the marching ensemble, Chia-Heng Chu. Heng was an age out in the snare line. Heng's Taiwan high school - Chien Kuo will be taking part in this week's Drum Corps International Open Class Championships.

United is proud to be able to sponsor and assist Chien Kuo this week. They will be using the United trailer and percussion equipment throughout the DCI World Championships. We wish them the best of luck as they finish their 2015 tour in the US. Check out the video below of a recent run-through!
